S&M Pitchfork XLT 4Q Baked
|
Made in the U.S.A. with a lifetime warranty to the original owner, these are the lightest Pitchforks Scott and Moeller has ever made. Thanks to their exclusive multi-staged, post-weld "4Q Baked" maximum heat-treat process, true temper butted legs, and overlapping CNC top-cap these forks are stronger and lighter than anything else on the market. Here's why:
1. The insert keeps the forks from bending just above the lower bearings (where forks usually fail). The insert is aluminum and adds very little weight. The insert's shape gives the forks strength from all directions, unlike other steel insert plates that only work front to back.
2. The Pitchfork drop-outs now extend all the way to the back of the fork leg on the bottom for grinds. This enhancement works well for peg-less street riders, too. We laser cut a large hole in the drop-out to save weight.
3. The Pitchfork has a long taper on the OD of the steerer tube that makes it stronger than ever. Be advised, though, that this means you can't run it on some old school headsets with really thick lower cups.
4. The insert for the headset tensioning cap now has a machined groove on the top and the bottom to reduce weight. The new aluminum top caps are shorter and lighter than ever. If that weren't enough, they have a machined edge that won't scratch your stem!
